Where Innovation Meets Aquatic Safety: The Hilda L. Solis Aquatic Center ORIZZ WP

Advanced aquatic safety technology for Los Angeles County’s newest community landmark

The Hilda L. Solis Aquatic Center in Los Angeles County is one of the most exciting new public aquatic facilities in California. Located in the San Gabriel Valley and opened in 2025, the center was designed as a vibrant hub for fitness, competition, and community life. Developed by Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation, one of the largest municipal park systems in the United States, the facility reflects the County’s long-term commitment to expanding access to high-quality recreational infrastructure for local communities. The aquatic center serves residents across the San Gabriel Valley, offering year-round programming, swim education, and spaces where families, athletes, and community members can gather around water.

The next-generation complex brings together high-level aquatic infrastructure and welcoming public spaces. The facility features a 164 × 75 ft Olympic pool and an 82 × 75 ft training pool alongside spectator areas, team facilities, shaded seating, and open community spaces that make it an ideal venue for both competitive swimming and everyday recreation. The pools themselves were built by California Commercial Pools, a leading specialist in large aquatic facilities across the state of California.

Elevating safety with AngelEye LifeGuard

To support lifeguards and ensure the highest standards of swimmer protection, the Hilda L. Solis Aquatic Center selected AngelEye LifeGuard, an advanced drowning detection and lifeguard support system. Installed in both main pools, the system combines underwater cameras equipped with integrated LED lighting with aerial mapping units that help identify and locate swimmers in the pool environment. Powered by artificial intelligence and hundreds of algorithms, AngelEye LifeGuard continuously analyzes activity in the water and can instantly alert lifeguards in the event of a potential emergency: when detected, alerts are instantly sent to lifeguards via smartwatch notifications and displayed on the poolside control monitor, enabling rapid awareness and immediate response.

This additional safety layer helps lifeguards maintain full awareness across large pool surfaces, reducing blind spots and enabling faster intervention when time is of the essence. The system is designed to integrate seamlessly with established lifeguard protocols and rescue procedures.

Supporting safer aquatic communities

Large public aquatic centers welcome thousands of swimmers each year. By integrating AngelEye technology into its safety strategy, the Hilda L. Solis Aquatic Center strengthens its commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and forward-looking aquatic environment for the entire community. This installation also marks the third Los Angeles County facility to implement AngelEye technology, following previous deployments at Greater Whittier Regional Aquatic Center and Jesse Owens Community Regional Park, further demonstrating the County’s continued investment in advanced aquatic safety solutions. At the Hilda L. Solis Aquatic Center, technology and lifeguard expertise work side by side, helping set a new benchmark for modern aquatic safety.
